Introducing even easier trading

May 1, 2024

On our quest for making dairy commodity trading easy for both sellers and buyers, we are happy to introduce even easier trading by launching our simple offer module.

In the dynamic world of dairy commerce, OpenDairy has consistently stood for innovation and efficiency, connecting dairy producers with buyers across the globe. Today, we are thrilled to announce the latest enhancement to our platform – a new product offering that makes dairy trading even easier than it already is.

Since our launch in 2022 we have enabled suppliers to offer their commodities to our growing base of worldwide buyers. With the ease of matching product specifications with those of buyers, offering logistics and financial services by our specialist partners our users are increasingly transacting online.

But if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the past two years (there are plenty more, trust us), it’s that no one supplier is the same. In some situations suppliers simply want to put an offer online without the need to add specifications and sometimes they just want to test the waters without necessarily exposing their identity.

Until now our supplier offering consisted of the following modules:

  1. Offers
Regular offers revolve around the products’ specifications and allow buyers to instantly see if the product matches with what they need. Also, buyers can use the integrated logistics and financing services offered by our value-added partners or the supplier itself. Users can negotiate online and when a deal is made they can use the document exchange (ODX) as part of the fulfilment.

  2. Auction
Where the offer module is based on (open) negotiations, auctions are timed events that let buyers place closed bids. When the auction comes to an end, the buyers with the highest bids will automatically win. Any bids that do not reach the asking price of the supplier can still be converted to deals if the supplier wishes to.

For our buyers there is the option to send out a Request for Proposal (RFP) to our seller base if they cannot find what they are looking for on the platform.

Understanding the evolving needs of our suppliers we are now extending our functionality by introducing simplified offers. These kinds of offers allow suppliers to more quickly place an offer for a product online, giving them more flexibility in what and how they want to offer it. Moreover, simple offers can be placed online without the need to disclose your identity.

What simple offers do and don’t include

The two biggest differences between the existing (or regular if you will) offers and simple offers lie in the fact that simple offers are not based on product specifications and that suppliers can choose to offer anonymously.

Furthermore, the logistic locations are a free text field and our value-added services are not available for buyers.

If you decide to offer anonymously, no buyer will see your company or personal name nor the country that you are located in. In turn, if buyers start a negotiation you will not see the identity of the bidder. Only once a deal is closed between you and a buyer both your identities become visible. For all other buyers your identity will remain undisclosed, even if you were in negotiations with each other.

At OpenDairy, we are committed to continuously evolving our platform to meet and exceed the expectations of our users. This new feature underscores our dedication to providing innovative solutions that enhance the trading experience for our community of dairy suppliers and buyers.

Embrace the future of dairy trading with OpenDairy. Place your offers anonymously, and let us connect you to a world of opportunities, securely and efficiently.
